Live Streaming of Large-Scale Fire Tests – DBI Fire Test 2

Major fires involving roof surfaces with solar panels have raised growing concern at a time when the green transition and European energy independence are critical. Current fire-testing methods for roofing materials do not fully capture the risks when solar panels are installed.
As part of the SOL-IGNIS project, DBI is running three large-scale experimental fire tests to help lay the groundwork for a new European fire-testing method for roof-mounted PV systems. Experts from RISE in Norway and Sweden are also involved.
- Fire Test 1: Completed 3 July 2025
- Fire Test 2: Livestream on 2 October 2025 – repeating Test 1 with a bitumen-based roof covering
- Fire Test 3: Livestream on 16 October 2025 – same setup but with a PVC-based roofing membrane to evaluate test repeatability
Participation is free of charge, but registration is required to receive the streaming link. During the test, attendees can submit questions via the live chat.
