???? BIG ANNOUNCEMENT: The First SFPE UK Chapter Conference is Coming!????

We are incredibly excited to share that SFPE UK Chapter will be hosting our first UK Conference which will take place on the 14th and 15th of October 2026 in Manchester.

???? Theme: The Science Behind the Guidance
This conference is dedicated to UK fire engineering practice and will take a deep, honest look at the guidance we rely on to design fire safety strategies across the country.

Goal:
- To explore the why behind the guidance.
- To challenge, investigate, and trace the foundations of the provisions we use every day.
- To spark discussion about where guidance performs well, where it doesn’t, and how it has evolved to where it is today.

And sometimes, the answer might be:
➡️ “There is no science behind X.”

If that is your presentation, that’s fine! That's also useful, as long as you can explore how "X" found its way into practice and what it means for design decision‑making.

This will be a conference shaped by transparency, curiosity, and evidence‑based thinking, and we want you to be part of it.

???? Call for Abstracts – Opening Early February 2026
We encourage you to start thinking now. We’re looking for presentations that are:
✔️ Focused on UK practice
✔️ Grounded in guidance, its context, or its evolution
✔️ New or previously presented work, as long as it deepens the conversation

Whether you're an academic, consultant, regulator, researcher, or practitioner, this is an opportunity to help push the profession forward and contribute to a nationwide dialogue about how we design safer buildings.
