A unique opportunity to gain the insights of leading international researchers and practitioners in performance based fire safety design
ATU in celebrating 25 years of delivering undergraduate programmes in Fire Safety Engineering design, have collaborated with Engineers Ireland Fire & Safety Division to offer this unique opportunity to gain the insights of leading international researchers and practitioners in the application of performance based fire safety engineering design.
The conference will focus on the application of performance-based fire safety engineering in tall and complex buildings, with particular emphasis on quantitative analysis, engineering judgement, and emerging regulatory expectations.
This conference will see a programme of leading international fire safety experts discuss some of the key issues in contemporary fire safety engineering, including:
• Dr Robert McNamee: ‘Robustness in Fire Safety: A 100-Year Perspective’ | RISE Research Institutes of Sweden
• Professor Grunde Jomaas: ‘Burning and Learning – Ensuring a Fire-Safe, Sustainable Built Environment Through Research’ | ZAG Ljubijana (Slovenia)
• Dr Barbara Lane: ‘The Future of Fire Engineering: Ethical Practice and Our Duty to Protect the Public’ | Arup (UK)
• Dr Mikko Salminen: ‘Holistic Structural Fire Engineering for Innovative Design Solutions’ | Jensen Hughes (Finland)
• Professor Steve Gwynne: ‘Evacuation Modelling: Capabilities, Limitations, and the Role of Engineering Judgement’ | University of Greenwich (UK)
• Dr Wojciech Węgrzyński: ‘Delivering Fire Safety in an Ever-Changing Built Environment’ | Building Research Institute (Poland)
There will also be networking opportunities throughout the day, and the presentations will be supplemented by a panel discussion to close out the conference.
