ForestValue2 General Assembly

Apr 22, 2026

On 22nd April, the ZAG Fire Laboratory in Logatec hosted the first day of the ForestValue2 General Assembly, bringing together researchers and partners from across Europe for a day of project updates, technical discussions, and live fire testing.

The morning sessions were held in a closed format, reserved for project scientists. These included project monitoring and management led by SINTEF, followed by status presentations and discussions on Work Package 1 (WP1) from partners at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM), ZAG, SINTEF, and the Warsaw University of Technology (WUT), as well as a WP2 status update from WUT.

From the afternoon onwards, the sessions were opened to all FRISSBE staff, beginning with a series of presentations under WP1 Task 1.5 on timber fire safety. Dr Andrea Lucherini, Senior Researcher at FRISSBE and host of the event, delivered the introduction to timber fire safety and testing, setting the scientific context for the hands-on activities that followed. Dr Martin Košiček then presented an overview of fire testing methodologies and preliminary results from the project's ongoing experimental work.

The technical presentations were followed by a guided tour of ZAG's Fire Laboratory and a live fire test demonstration, always a compelling illustration of the research carried out at the facility.

The assembly brought together participants from SINTEF (Dr Katarzyna Ostapska and Dr Kathinka Leikanger), Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (Dr Guillermo Íñiguez González), Warsaw University of Technology (Dr Jan Pełczyński, Dr Kacper Wasilewski, and Dr Tomasz Kułakowski), and Aalto University (Dr Alexandre Sevrin).

The General Assembly continues on 23rd April at ZAG's headquarters in Ljubljana, where further presentations, working discussions, and a laboratory tour are scheduled.
