The 13th International Conference on Structures in Fire (SiF) held from 19th to 21st June 2024 in Coimbra, Portugal, brought together researchers and engineers from the global structural fire engineering community. Organized by the University of Coimbra in collaboration with the Institute for Sustainability and Innovation in Structural Engineering (ISISE), the conference provided a platform for sharing recent findings, innovations, and developments in the field.
Representing ZAG, Dr Andrea Lucherini and Dr Urška Blumauer actively participated in the conference, contributing to the discussions with their expertise. The conference saw the attendance of about 250 participants, highlighting its significance in the field of structural fire engineering.
Dr Andrea Lucherini presented a paper entitled “Comparing Various Methods for Estimating the Fire Decay and the Cooling Phase in Structural Fire Engineering”, co-authored with Prof Bart Merci and Prof Ruben Van Coile from Ghent University, Belgium.
Dr Urška Blumauer presented the paper “Heated Steel Bearing Elements Continuing Through Fire Compartment Boundaries”, co-authored with Anita Ogrin and Friderik Knez.
In addition, Dr Andrea Lucherini also co-authored the following papers:
The SiF conference continues to be a vital gathering for advancing knowledge and fostering collaborations in the structural fire engineering community. The participation and contributions of ZAG's researchers underscore the institute's commitment to pioneering structural fire safety research and innovation.
