On May 16th, an annual symposium, Brunaþing 2025, organised by the fire safety engineering organisation in Iceland called BTÍ took place at Hotel Reykjavík Natura - Berjaya Iceland Hotels. This year’s topics focused on fire safety of PV systems and battery storage.

Our researcher, Nik Rus, was invited to do a presentation, but due to short notice, he gave a talk virtually. The title of his presentation was Fire Safety of Buildings with Rooftop PV systems where he presented some statistics related to the PV-related fires, faults and causes leading to them and also the research that is being done to better understand the mechanics behind the fire spread in these settings and some potential future paths for improving the resiliency of rooftop PV systems.
