World Conference on Timber Engineering (WCTE 2025)

From 22th to 27th June 2025, Dr Andrea Lucherini participated in the World Conference on Timber Engineering (WCTE 2025) in Brisbane, Australia. The event brought together over 900 delegates from academia and industry, covering a broad range of topics in timber construction and research.

Dr Lucherini presented a paper co-authored with Vladimir Mózer titled Investigation of Thermal Penetration in Wood Components Exposed to Natural Fires, contributing to the scientific dialogue on timber performance under fire conditions. The copnference article can be found HERE.
The work aligns with the FRISSBE project’s focus on advancing fire safety knowledge for sustainable construction.

Also from ZAG, Martin Capuder attended the conference and joined the “Brisbane Timber Buildings Tour”. The tour showcased timber construction practices in Australia, including a visit to “25 King”, the country’s tallest timber office building. Discussions highlighted local approaches to pest control, including the continued use of wood preservatives banned in Europe.
