Dr Andrea Lucherini receives the SFPE 5 Under 35 Award

We are celebrating that Dr Andrea Lucherini, Senior Researcher in the FRISSBE project team, has been awarded the 2024 SFPE 5 Under 35 Award. This award recognises him as one of the top rising leaders in the field of fire protection engineering, highlighting his exceptional contributions to the profession and the community.

The Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE) established the 5 Under 35 Award to acknowledge each year five individuals who exemplify best of the emerging talent. These awardees are celebrated for their leadership, volunteerism, and professional growth, demonstrating a commitment to advancing the fire protection engineering profession. The awardees receive complimentary registration to the SFPE Annual Conference and Expo, recognition during an Engineer Professional Society (EPS) event at the conference, and a feature in the Fire Protection Engineer (FPE) magazine and website.

Andrea Lucherini, PhD, from the Slovenian National Building and Civil Engineering Institute (ZAG), has made significant contributions to the FRISSBE project, particularly in the areas of fire dynamics and structural fire engineering. He has co-authored numerous influential journal and conference papers, including his notable work on intumescent coatings and fire dynamics of post-flashover compartment fires focused on fire decay and cooling phase. His dedication to the field, leadership qualities, and active involvement in both professional and community service have distinguished him as a deserving recipient of this award.
