On March 17, Assist Prof Dr Andrea Lucherini, senior researcher at FRISSBE, participated as an external examiner for the PhD defense of Aleksandra Seweryn at the University of Liège, Belgium. Her thesis, titled "Numerical Modelling of Fire-Resistant Glazing and Frame in a Full-Scale Fire Test," was supervised by Prof Dr Jean-Marc Franssen (University of Liège) and Julien Jeanfils (AGC). The jury also included Prof Dr Ruben Van Coile (Ghent University) and Dr Anne Marie Habraken (University of Liège). We extend our congratulations to Dr Seweryn on the successful defense of her thesis and the achievement of her PhD title.

Continuing his academic engagements, on March 18, 2025, Dr. Lucherini delivered an invited lecture on the structural fire safety of timber structures at Ghent University. The lecture was part of the Master of Science in Fire Safety Engineering course in Structural Fire Engineering, led by Dr Thomas Thienpont.

These activities highlight FRISSBE’s active contribution to the international fire safety research community, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange across institutions.
