From 3rd to 7th November 2025, Dr Andrea Lucherini visited Ghent University in Belgium for a series of academic activities related to fire safety engineering.
As part of the International Master of Science in Fire Safety Engineering (IMFSE) and the local Master of Science in Fire Safety Engineering (MFSE), Dr Lucherini delivered lectures within the course “Material Behaviour at Ambient and Elevated Temperatures”, coordinated by Prof Bart Merci. His teaching focused on methodologies for estimating fire-related material properties, reaction to fire and fire resistance.
In addition, Dr Lucherini gave a presentation titled “Timber Structures, Fire Decay and Cooling Phase of Post-Flashover Fires” to the SFE @ UGent research team, sharing insights from his recent research on the thermal and structural performance of timber in advanced fire scenarios.
The visit also included several research meetings aimed at strengthening current and future collaborations between ZAG, FRISSBE, and Ghent University in advancing fire safety science.
