Dr Lucherini discussed PV fire safety at the Italian FSE CONGRESS

Mar 19, 2026

Dr Andrea Lucherini represented the FRISSBE team at the Italian Fire Safety Engineering Congress 2026, organised by PREVENZIONEINCENDITALIA and held in Milan on 19th March 2026.

During the congress, Dr Lucherini delivered a presentation entitled “Experimental tests for the safety of roofs with photovoltaic systems”. His contribution focused on experimental research addressing fire safety challenges associated with rooftop building applied PV installations (BAPV), highlighting the importance of testing and evidence-based approaches in improving design and risk mitigation strategies.

The hybrid event gathered more than 300 fire safety professionals and experts to discuss key topics in Fire Safety Engineering (FSE), combining theoretical perspectives with practical applications based on real-case scenarios. The programme included contributions on sprinkler systems, CFD modelling for fire protection in data centres, fire risks in electric vehicles, and the use of thermography for early fire detection.

Dr Lucherini’s participation showcased ongoing research activities within FRISSBE and reinforced the importance of experimental work in advancing fire-safe solutions for modern building technologies.
