From 26th to 30th October 2026, Dr Andrea Lucherini visited Ghent University in Belgium for a series of academic activities related to fire safety science and engineering.
As part of the International Master of Science in Fire Safety Engineering (IMFSE) and the local Master of Science in Fire Safety Engineering (MFSE), Dr Lucherini delivered three lectures within the course “Material Behaviour at Ambient and Elevated Temperatures”, coordinated by Prof Bart Merci. The lectures covered the determination of fire-related material properties, reaction to fire, and fire resistance, giving students a link between material testing and the performance of building products and structures in fire.
ZAG-FRISSBE is an associate partner of IMFSE, and this teaching activity is part of that collaboration, which brings the experience of the ZAG Fire Laboratory into the classroom.
The visit also included meetings with the research teams of Prof Bart Merci and Prof Ruben Van Coile. The discussions covered ongoing research projects and the continuing collaboration between ZAG, FRISSBE and Ghent University in advancing fire safety science.
