In October, Dr Ulises Rojas completed a two-week research visit to the State Key Laboratory of Fire Science (SKLFS) at the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC). Hosted by Professor Xiaoyu Ju and his research group, the visit focused on developing collaborative research and planning an experimental campaign scheduled for early 2026.
During his stay, Dr Rojas delivered a lecture on Risk Analysis to postgraduate students at USTC, engaging in discussions on methods for assessing and managing fire-related risks. The visit was supported by the Chinese Academy of Sciences’ Special Exchange Programme (CX2320008006), and FRISSBE extends its gratitude to USTC for its warm hospitality and support.
Following his visit, Dr Rojas attended the 4th International Symposium on Lithium Battery Fire Safety (ISLBFS 2025) held in Hong Kong, organised by Professor Xinyan Huang and his team at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
At the symposium, he delivered two presentations: Fire and Explosion Hazards of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and Statistical Investigation of International Incident Datasets on LIB Fires (Mobility Applications). The latter earned him the Best Presentation Award, recognising the quality and impact of his research.
These activities further strengthen FRISSBE’s collaboration with leading Asian research institutions and contribute to advancing global knowledge in fire safety and lithium battery hazards.
