On 26th February, Dr Ulises Rojas represented FRISSBE at SICUR (Salón Internacional de la Seguridad), held in Madrid from 24th to 27th February. SICUR is an international forum dedicated to promoting research, development, and innovation in the security sector, fostering the advancement of new products and services.
During the third session of the event, Dr Rojas delivered the presentation “Desde chispas hasta seguridad: conocimientos experimentales sobre la reducción de riesgo de incendio en sistemas fotovoltaicos en tejados.” In this talk, he introduced the recently translated Spanish version of the Fire Safety Guideline for Building-Applied Photovoltaic Systems on Flat Roofs, expanding its accessibility to the Spanish-speaking market. The guideline provides a comprehensive approach to fire risks associated with rooftop photovoltaic (PV) systems, addressing both roof assemblies and structural considerations.
Later, in the session titled “Sostenibilidad e incendio: Baterías ion-litio/Fotovoltaicas,” moderated by Carmen Dorta (Secretary General of APICI and member of TECNIFUEGO), Dr Rojas presented “Solar en el tejado; seguridad en el núcleo: Vías experimentales para reducir el riesgo de incendios.” His contribution focused on experimental pathways to reduce fire risks linked to photovoltaic installations and lithium-ion battery systems, highlighting prevention and performance-based safety strategies.
In the afternoon, Dr Rojas participated in the roundtable discussion “Sostenibilidad e Incendio: Nuevos retos en la edificación sostenible,” coordinated by CEPREVEN and moderated by Jon Michelena, Director General of CEPREVEN. The discussion panel included representatives from Tecnifuego and ASELF, addressing current challenges in sustainable construction, energy installations, large-scale emergency management, and fire risk reduction.
FRISSBE’s participation at SICUR 2026 reinforced its commitment to advancing fire safety in emerging energy technologies and sustainable building practices, contributing research-based expertise to an international professional audience.
