FRISSBE at DTU

May 9, 2025

From 7th to 9th May 2025, Dr Andrea Lucherini, senior researcher at FRISSBE-ZAG, was in Denmark for a series of academic activities with long-time collaborators at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU).

On Wednesday 7th May, Dr Lucherini served as an external examiner for the PhD defence of Beril Oğuz at DTU Chemical Engineering. The thesis, titled ‘Fast and Reliable Test of Intumescent Coatings’, contributed to the development of practical fire safety evaluation methods.

The following day, Dr Lucherini was a guest speaker at the CoaST Annual Event 2025, hosted by The Hempel Foundation Coatings Science and Technology Centre. His presentation, ‘Understanding the effectiveness of intumescent coatings for fire-safe structures through advanced fire testing’, addressed challenges in structural fire protection and outlined how advanced experimental methods can support performance-based fire engineering.

On Friday 9th May, he joined the Coatings Network Workshop 2025 at DTU, participating in discussions on research infrastructure, PhD student mobility, and EU collaboration priorities. The workshop provided a platform for knowledge exchange between academia and industry, with an emphasis on expanding European research networks in coating technologies.
