On June 16th to 18th, FRISSBE was represented at the NFPA Conference & Expo in Las Vegas by our PhD student Martin Veit.
Martin presented his project ‘Measuring Thermal Image Quality for Fire Service Applications’ in the student poster competition, where he earned an impressive 2nd place award. His research explores how to improve the reliability of thermal imaging for firefighters, an essential tool for safety and efficiency in the field.
Beyond the competition, the conference provided a valuable platform to connect with industry experts, exchange ideas, and strengthen collaboration opportunities. Martin also attended the University of Maryland Department of Fire Protection Engineering alumni event, where he proudly accepted the Distinguished Alumni Award on behalf of his supervisor, ERA Chair holder Prof Grunde Jomaas.
FRISSBE congratulates Martin on this recognition and thanks NFPA for fostering an environment that supports early-career researchers and their contributions to fire safety innovation.
