Lukas Larsen Visits FRISSBE

Feb 9, 2026

FRISSBE recently welcomed Lukas Larsen, a Danish Master’s student in Civil Engineering at Aalborg University, specialising in Indoor Environmental and Energy Engineering.

Lukas is currently working on his master’s thesis in experimental and numerical fire dynamics, with a particular focus on compartment fires. His thesis is co-supervised by Martin Veit at FRISSBE, strengthening the academic collaboration between Aalborg University and ZAG.

During his visit, from 9 February to 1 March, Lukas conducted reduced-scale compartment fire tests at the FRISSBE Fire Laboratory. The experimental campaign supports the validation of numerical simulations performed using Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS).

Alongside his studies, Lukas works as a student assistant at SafeDesign in Aalborg, where he contributes to fire safety engineering projects and FDS simulations.

His stay at FRISSBE combines experimental research with computational modelling, contributing to a deeper understanding of compartment fire behaviour and validation of simulation tools.
