Martin Veit at the 13th Mediterranean Combustion Symposium

Jun 5, 2025

Between the 1st and 5th of June, Martin Veit attended the 13th Mediterranean Combustion Symposium in Corfu, Greece. It is a symposium dedicated to high-quality combustion research, with topics such as fundamental combustion research, detonation, gas phase kinetics, fire, machine learning and more. More than 267 papers were accepted for the conference and researchers from more than 30 different countries attended the conference.

Martin delivered a talk on his latest work, named ‘Video enhancement for increased spatio-temporal resolution in thermal videos: demonstration on an alcohol pool fire’, co-authored by Dr Andrea Lucherini, Prof Steven Verstockt and Prof Bart Merci.

The research focused on accommodating the hardware limitations of thermal videos, as they are typically much lower resolution, and with lower frame rate, as cameras designed for the visible spectrum. This research could therefore allow for improved observations and analysis of transient flame phenomena in the infrared spectrum.
