Prof Grunde Jomaas Nominated for Mentor of the Year Award

May 14, 2025

On 14 May, the Young Academy of Slovenia held its annual Mentor of the Year award ceremony at the Rector’s Office of the University of Ljubljana. The award recognises outstanding mentorship and promotes best practices in the supervision of doctoral students across Slovenia.

This year, Prof Grunde Jomaas, ERA Chair Holder of the FRISSBE project at ZAG, was among the nominees. Though the award ultimately went to Prof Matej Černe from the School of Economics and Business, the nomination itself reflects the quality and consistency of Prof Jomaas’s mentoring efforts.

The Young Academy of Slovenia brings together early-career researchers working in Slovenia and abroad. Through events and policy engagement, the society advocates for a merit-based academic system and long-term improvements in research and education.
