On 21st and 22nd October, the Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre hosted Safety and Prevention 2026, the third edition of this congress and expo event. It was organised by the Slovenian Fire Protection Association (SZPV) together with the Chamber of Occupational Safety and Health. The event combined professional conferences, presentations of new solutions and practical demonstrations, with the first day dedicated to fire and process safety.
Four FRISSBE researchers contributed to the programme:
Together, the talks reflect the emerging fire risks that FRISSBE studies in its laboratory, from lithium-ion batteries and rooftop PV to modern building envelopes and car park structures, and they brought that experimental evidence to an audience of practitioners.
Dr Aleš Jug, Head of the Department for Fire-Safe Sustainable Built Environment at ZAG, is also President of SZPV. According to Dr Jug, the purpose of the event is to connect experts, exchange knowledge and present new safety risks, including those linked to batteries, photovoltaics and modern materials. The organisers also gave particular attention to the evacuation of people with mobility and sensory impairments, stressing that accessibility must be part of fire safety design from the start.
FRISSBE thanks Dr Jug, SZPV and the Chamber of Occupational Safety and Health for organising the event and for the opportunity to share our research with the Slovenian fire safety community.
