Slovenian translation of the PV Guideline

Sep 23, 2024

On Monday, 23rd of September, a press conference was held at the Fire Laboratory Logatec to highlight the project October, Fire Safety Month, headed by the Ministry of Defence. The event was attended by representatives of key project partners, Leon Behin, Director of the Slovenian Administration for Protection and Rescue (URSZR); Zvonko Glažar, Commander of the Firefighters' Association of Slovenia; Luka Piko, Chairman of the Prevention Commission from the Association of Slovenian Professional Firefighters; and Dr Aleš Jug, President of the Slovenian Fire Safety Association.

FRISSBE seized the opportunity and published a Slovene version of the Fire Safety Guideline for Building Applied Photovoltaic Systems on Flat Roofs.

The Guideline aimed to emphasize the importance of addressing fire risks associated with rooftop PV systems in a comprehensive manner, considering both the roof and its structure. This focus emerged from the realization that many of the systemic fire risks linked to installing such systems have not yet been covered in existing installation recommendations or legislative requirements.

Authors Prof Grunde Jomaas, Dr Aleš Jug and Nik Rus also made sure that the recommendations and insights are based on outcomes of robust scientific experiments and reliable statistics. The document is not intended as a technical guideline, but more as paving the way for a better understanding of the holistic approach to assessing fire safety risks related to roof-top PV assemblies.
