The 8th ASFE International Conference on the Applications of Structural Fire Engineering

Feb 27, 2024

The 8th International Conference on the Applications of Structural Fire Engineering (ASFE) '24 took place in Nanning, China, from 25 to 27 February 2024, focusing on the applied level of fire engineering for different types of structures - steel, concrete, composite, timber, glass - as well as numerical simulation methods. The conference was hosted by Guangxi University.

The first day of the conference was dedicated to four invited lectures and presentations in three separate sessions. The conference featured a paper on wood composite beams exposed to fire, co-authored by Urša Blumauer, Andrea Lucherini and Meta Kržan, entitled: Fire resistance test of 4-m long composite timber girders. The paper was written within the internal project POKLEN.

The second day was followed by a tour of two of Guangxi University's laboratories for testing structures and materials. The special features of the laboratories visited are that they can test the simultaneous effects of fire and mechanical impact. The huge hall in the structures laboratory also allows them to test bridges on a reduced scale.

More information about the conference is available from the participants.
