The SFPE IMFSE Student Chapter, currently led by our former intern Ashwant Singh, organized another webinar like the one in May, where Dr Andrea Lucherini spoke with Antonela Čolić about Timber Structures and Fire Safety. 

This time the event focused on fire risks associated with photovoltaic (PV) assemblies. The keynote speakers were Dr Jens Steeman Kristensen, Research Consultant at the DBI’s Department of Advanced Services and Nik Rus, our researcher in the ZAG’s Fire Research and Innovation Unit. 

During the talk, Dr Jens and Nik shared experiences and results of their work on various experimental and other types of research related to PV systems. Nik first gave a general overview of the topic, while Jens gave a short but more in-depth presentation on some of the parameters and mechanisms involved in a fire-related to PV systems. Later, the discussion focused on possible future steps to improve the fire safety of future PV installations. 

Before the end, the audience also participated with some very interesting questions, which triggered a fruitful discussion and brought the event to an amicable close.
